An iconic view of a junction in Rothenberg. Everyone seems to take a shot at this so I had a go too.

A Japanese couple were also taken some photos and the guy gave me his camera to take a photo of him and his girlfriend. I think it was because I had a similar camera to his and he knew he didnt have to do too much explaining and juts point!

Goodbye Britain!

Goodbye Britain!

Today we set off early, at about 7am. Got to Dover and got our ticket.

We were waved through Passport control and then waited in a huge car park for the ship to empty. Had some food at the burger king at extortionate prices. It wasn't really that long before the ship docked, emptied and we went on board. All in all it wasn't more than an hour before we boarded. Far quicker than an airline where you have to turn up 2 hours before a flight and then twiddle your thumbs!

By the time we got settled we could see the coast of France. When we disembarked we followed the signs for lorries to the passport control, as we though, but no such thing. (In fact, we never used our passports for the entire trip. Leaving Britain is a lot easier than getting in)

For the rest of the day we travelled along the most flat and boring countryside I've seen in a long time. At about 8 we looked for a hotel in the Belgium town of Genk. Never heard of it but the Hotel was nice.

There was some sort of festival going on so we listened to Belgium heavy metal being played in the street while we ate the national dish of steak and chips! (Real chips not French Fries)

Today we went down to Pee Gees to get the Van. Did the paperwork and then waited for the guy to clean the van.

Took the van to the nearest station and put 60 litres in it and then took it home to start loading at about 12 O'Clock. At some point I had the clever idea of taking my (black) T-shirt off and managed to get quite sunburned by the end. Doh!

At the end of the day, at about 8 O'clock, we managed to finish loading but were getting close to full capacity so I decided to cut some things that weren't neded immediately. (Unfortunately, I'd forgotten what was in some boxes so I did in fact forget to bring some essentials out with me!)

Slept fitfully in an empty house.
