Goodbye Britain!

Today we set off early, at about 7am. Got to Dover and got our ticket.
We were waved through Passport control and then waited in a huge car park for the ship to empty. Had some food at the burger king at extortionate prices. It wasn't really that long before the ship docked, emptied and we went on board. All in all it wasn't more than an hour before we boarded. Far quicker than an airline where you have to turn up 2 hours before a flight and then twiddle your thumbs!
By the time we got settled we could see the coast of France. When we disembarked we followed the signs for lorries to the passport control, as we though, but no such thing. (In fact, we never used our passports for the entire trip. Leaving Britain is a lot easier than getting in)
For the rest of the day we travelled along the most flat and boring countryside I've seen in a long time. At about 8 we looked for a hotel in the Belgium town of Genk. Never heard of it but the Hotel was nice.
There was some sort of festival going on so we listened to Belgium heavy metal being played in the street while we ate the national dish of steak and chips! (Real chips not French Fries)
